egapark Erfurt
One of Germany's most significant horticultural monuments from the 1960s, egapark Erfurt is among the most important legacies of garden architecture from that era. It boasts a number of attractions, including the largest ornamental flowerbed in Europe, a rose garden, a Japanese rock and water garden, gardens dedicated to grasses and herbaceous perennials, tropical glasshouses with a butterfly house, the largest playground in Thuringia with a children's farm and 'water world', a sculpture garden featuring works by well-known artists and historical Cyriaksburg Castle with the German Horticultural Museum.
In 2023, huge forest dwellers await you in the egapark, because the motto is "The forest is calling". 50,000 pumpkins are used to create snails, deer, owls and many other monumental pumpkin figures. The pumpkin exhibition can be seen until 31 October. At the end, the big family festival on 31.10. will be celebrated, carved and harvested. Pumpkins included! In addition, a visit to meerkats, tree pythons and co. in the Danakil Desert and Primeval Forest House as well as the interactive exhibition in the unique German Horticultural Museum are tempting in any weather. Our tip: During the family week from 10 to 14.10.23, 2 adults with up to 5 students (7-16 years) pay only €31.20 instead of €39.
